Zagreb

I was in Zagreb, Croatia for a day...it's a beautiful city. Here are some photos.

I started off my day with a walk from my hostel to the city - probably should have been about a 3 or 4 mile walk, but I made a wrong turn somewhere and it ended up being a bit longer. Anyway, we're starting off on the outskirts of the city and moving in.

Paris, Day 6

The trip was winding down at this point. Just a couple of photos worth sharing at this point.

Paris, Day 5

This was my favorite day in Paris. We went to Chateau de Versailles and the Eiffel Tower. The Chateau was really enjoyable for me after being stuffed up in the city of Paris for so long...fresh air, not so many people...and a beautiful day. Enjoy the photos!

We brought the gnome along for a friend.

Very embarassing start with the boat rental...crashed into the pier multiple times before I got the hang of it.

Paris, Day 4

I'm just going to run through and pick out the highlight photos from here on out, and explain when necessary. Minimal text, maximum photo count.

It was a pretty short day!

Paris, Day 3

Paris, Day 3

Well, day 3. We went to the Louvre!

Photobucket

Here’s the entrance…it’s not really that recognizable is it?

Photobucket

Oh wait! I recognize that! It was in that movie with Tom Hanks based off a book by Dan Brown! Also, notice my relatively small stomach. Phew!

The Louvre was really amazing…but I actually didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have. I was feeling a bit burned out at this point, especially with museums. Vy and I had recently been to the Kunsthistoriches (art history) museum in Vienna and it was really similar. That’s not to say we were fast – we spent a few hours inside. Actually, this courtyard was pretty amazing too, we hung out here and ate…see?

Photobucket

Not sure what’s going on with my face here.

Photobucket

After the Louvre, we went on another walk and ended up at this government building…it had a huge sand play area out front! Check out that sky!

Photobucket

Paris skyline…not actually night, but my camera is really pretty good…I’m having fun messing with the settings to get different photos!

Photobucket

This is the Notre Dame! We didn’t get a chance to go in.

Photobucket

And to end the day…here was the only successful French restaurant choice we made. I had a very tasty pate of some kind with red wine.

Paris, Day 2

We started our day at the Arc D’Triomphe – a large, um, arc. You can see a little more of it here:

Photobucket
And you can read about it here!

The Arc D’Triomphe is right by Champs Elysees (Aux Champs Elysees, Aux Champs Elysees…anyone know the song?). Vy and I spent some time in and under the arc – it’s kind of interesting, even though you can’t go inside it or anything, it’s just a structure on the street, there is security guarding the main entrance. I had to show them everything in my bag.

Photobucket
This display was at a very expensive store…and I can’t remember the name. Anyway, Vy loves bags…she has quite a few of them. The displays intrigued her, as displayed here.

OK these two buildings were across the street from each other after we reached the end of Champs Elysees…and I have to be honest, I have no idea what they are. There were tons of people going in and out, but we didn’t stop to see what they were.

Photobucket
This picture isn’t particularly beautiful, but it’s the first part of a set. Behind me is a column with a gold statue…as you can see, if you look at the picture.

Photobucket
Here’s me again, this time at the Hotel Des Invalides. It looks like I’ve gained weight, but I’m just mindlessly sticking out my belly.

Photobucket
This is a huge shopping center is Paris…I actually forgot the name.

Photobucket
And this is a photo from the top of that building. That tower in the back is well-known for some reason…and that’s sarcasm. Day 2 fini!
